Ghosts as Demons Pt I

The first topic I want to write about stems from my interest in the paranormal and specifically "ghosts". Discussion of this topic is often made very difficult or even impossible by the religious teaching that "all spirits of deceased persons are demons." The reasoning behind this is usually that the demons are masquerading as our deceased friends and loved ones so as to lead to possesion of the person in question or to ensnare their time to lead them away from God.

I'm sure we've all heard this teaching or even been told this before. Some people reading this post may believe this piece of religious teaching. But is there anything explicity from God Himself to back it up? This post is not neccesarily looking to prove the existence of so-called ghosts, but simply to find a Biblical statement saying (or even implying) that all ghosts/dead people are demons. If not, then we can say that this doctrine is made my humans.

So far, my research has came up with a few things. 1 John 4:1-6 instructs us to test spirits to see if they are from God. In Matthew 12:30Jesus tells us "He who is not with me is against me is against me..." However, this does not point to the fact that all ghosts are demons.

2 Corinthians 11:15, after verse 14 tells us that Satan himself is transformed into an angel of the light, states that "Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds." But this only tells us that demons can disguise themselves. I'm still not seeing anything that shows all ghosts as demons.

I have some more verses to give in my next post. This post is getting long and the time is getting late. I shall continue my research and post more soon.

Hello

Hello everybody. My name is Dillon. I've recently been thinking about a way to get my views out. I've taken a serious look at a lot of the teachings of Christian churches (both Protestant and Catholic) and frankly I've become rather distressed. So much disinformation is pushed onto the Body of Christ, for many reasons which are sometimes difficult to understand. Oftentimes, the purpose for such misteaching seems to be control of the churche's followers.

So I decided to create this blog so as to discuss what I believe. I'm going to put in a lot of research into the dogmas, teachings and claims of the Christian religion, from all different sects and denominations. Then I will do my best to support or "debunk" these teachings, using the one thing we as Christians know beyond a doubt is true. The Bible. The central theme of this blog is in my strong belief that human beings should no longer be allowed to play God, and claim to be able to teach us about God. In the case of some groups of Christianity (such as Catholocism), these humans pretend to be interceders between you and God.

I chose the name Freestyle Christianity because of this fundamental belief. Freestyle refers to the fact that the person in question makes their own (hopefully informed) decision, that they do things their own way. This is what I choose for myself. But please, do not blindly follow what you read posted here. Really read the results of my research, do your own as well. THEN make a decision on what you believe.

Leave a comment or send me an E-mail if you'd like me to read about a certain piece of dogma and make a post.
